The Shifts in Imagination

My work reflects the relationship between imagination and creativity of children and adults. My sustained investigation focuses on the balance of the endless possibilities of the imagination of children with practical landscapes and elements of architectural design. I created my idea of tools that relate to the idea of childhood such as tree houses, play structures, and parks. My overall goal was to create modern architectural structures while maintaining a whimsical aspect of the design. I practiced my designs on Sketch-Up where I am not constrained by what is physically possible. Using the digital designs, I also built 3D replicas of some models. I experimented with colors and materials and continued to revise each piece until I was satisfied that it was both appealing to children to play on and visually exciting for adults to look at. For the more impossible pieces, I finalized them as a Sketch-Up design. My 3D work extends to both physical and digital models.
