Through my photography for this portfolio, I wanted to capture the feeling of emptiness and abandonment. This topic emerged from a trip my Dad and I took to Chico, CA. We drove to Paradise, CA for part of the day and saw the remains of the fire a few years back. Many of the structures that were there look as if they were trapped in time on the day after all the fires were put out. After taking photos there I based the rest of my images for the year on the chilling feeling I had walking around a seemingly post-apocalyptic area. Capturing true emptiness through an image is almost impossible without photographing a blank area. I rather aimed to capture the feeling that one has when they have been left alone or lost something.
